PARALELO 34 FILM FESTIVAL
Paralelo 34 Film Festival is an international film festival
born in Argentina and open to filmmakers from around the
world. The festival is dedicated to stories about a world in
transformation — stories of people and identity, technology
and artificial intelligence, society and culture, nature and
the future of our planet.
We are interested not only in the subject itself, but
in the filmmaker’s perspective. We look for cinema
that asks questions, opens new perspectives and
helps us understand the changes happening
around us through human stories.
The 34th parallel runs through Argentina while also crossing different countries,
cultures and continents.
For the festival, it is not a border, but a line of connection.
The name Paralelo 34 reflects the idea behind the festival: a project with a
specific point of origin in Argentina, creating a space for stories, filmmakers and
audiences from different parts of the world.
Paralelo 34 aims to discover new cinematic voices,
create connections between filmmakers from different
countries and help powerful stories find new audiences.
We see Paralelo 34 as a long-term cultural initiative. The
festival begins with an annual competition and a program of
screenings, but its development should not be limited to a
few days each year.
Our long-term goal is to build an international community
around cinema, develop professional and educational
initiatives, and create new opportunities for dialogue
between filmmakers, audiences and cultural institutions.
Paralelo 34 is being created in Argentina — a country with a strong cinematic tradition and a
natural connection between Latin America and the international cultural landscape. This is
where the festival begins its journey.
Born in Argentina. Open to the world.
